Kamal Nath to review cement prices

New Delhi, May 10: Concerned over runaway increase in the prices of cement by as much as 50 per cent in the last few months, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath has summoned a meeting of cement manufacturers along with builders on May 12.

Secretary in the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion Ajay Dua had already interacted with the cement manufacturers last week giving them a fortnight to bring the cement prices down.

''The ministry has called a meeting with the manufacturers and the government is keeping a close watch on the present situation,'' Mr Dua told reporters on the sidelines of an ASSOCHAM conference.
