JK High Court notices CS, DGP in sex racket case

Srinagar, May 10: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court today issued notices to the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police (DGP) to appear before it in person on May 12 in connection with the alleged sex racket case which had rocked the state a few weeks ago.

A single bench of Justice Hakim Imityaz issued the notices on a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by the Kashmir Bar Association (KBA) and a suo motu cognisance of recent media reports taken by Justice Bashir Ahmed Kirmani.

The court had clubbed the two together and listed the matter for hearing today.

Justice Imtiyaz asked the Chief Secretary and the DGP to be present in the court on the next date of hearing on May 12 with records of the case.

He also sought the status report in the case from the police before it was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The bench asked the police to also present the records pertaining to the previous identical sex scandal cases.
