Jackie Chan skips Karachi, Karate meet organisers disappointed
Lahore, May 10 (UNI) Jackie Chan's proposed arrival in Karachi for the Asian Karate tournament created a flutter but the organisers are a dejected lot after the martial art exponent and movie star changed his mind at the eleventh hour and skipped the event.
President of the Shidokan Federation Shahzada Saleem said Chan was expected to arrive in Karachi for a brief stopover before flying to Dubai.
''We were told verbally to expect him but at the last minute the programme was changed. We are disappointed he could not come.
After all, he is a popular and a well known person in Pakistan and his presence would've a huge boost for us,'' he said.
The Shidokan federation is organising a two-day Asian meet for which grandmaster Kancho Yushiji Soano was invited.
Fighters from Iran, Nepal, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Japan, Yemen and Senegal are expected to battle it out with local players in the tournament.
