Donot get provoked by militant actions, avoid HR violations : Azad
Srinagar, May 10 (UNI) Expressing satisfaction over the coordial relations between the security forces and people, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today cautioned the security forces to exercise restrain to avoid any human rights violation during counter-insurgency operations.
''It is laudable that the relationship between people and security forces is very cordial,'' Mr Azad said, adding militants always intend to provoke security forces and try to create wedge between them and the people.
Presiding over a Unified Command Area meeting here today, he however, said, While dealing with any situation, all restrain has to be made to avoid any human rights violation at any stage.'' ''We are all protectors of lives and property of people and should take all steps in this direction''.
He said the recent byelection in Jammu and Kashmir state have further established the faith of people in impartiality of the government and all security agencies in conducting the polls on a transparent and fair manner.
The meeting was also attended by Chief Secretary Vijay Bakaya, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Anil Goswami, GoC-N-C Northern Command, GoC 9th Battallion Crop, GoC XVI Corp, GoC XV Corp and other security officials.
