Committee formed to take action on fake surrender drama
Imphal, May 10 (UNI) A Joint Action Committee (JAC) has been formed after a public meeting held at Luwangsangbam in Imphal to follow the issue of 'fake' surrender drama that has surfaced Manipur.
In March, a surrender ceremony was organised by the Assam Rifles at Imphal, where five youths were forced by the Assam Rifles to pose as militants. The AR had promised to give them employment.
A man, allegedly involved in this case, 'lured' the youths and his house was burnt by irate villagers recently.
The JAC has announced that the family members of two persons, also involved in 'luring' the youths, would be socially boycotted.
The JAC warned that no one should be asked to pose as militants.
The PIB (Defence Wing), however, maintained that the five youths were militants and no one was forced to surrender.
The militant outfits of the state have also announced that they have no links with the youths who surrendered.
