Chikungunya mars girl's marriage plans

Chittoor, May 10 (UNI) A young girl's plans for a lavish marriage ceremony at her home-town here have been dashed by the scare of Chikungunya, the viral fever, which has spread in the district.

The wedding of the engineer-bride, residing at Sanjay Gandhi Nagar Area here, was fixed for May 11 with a Bangalore-based groom.

As per Hindu custom, the bride's parents decided to perform the ceremony at their residence in Chittoor but the bridegroom's parents pressed for a change of venue to Bangalore in view of the prevalence of the viral fever.

According to the bride's parents, har in-laws also stipulated that only 10 people from the girl's side could come to Bangalore for the wedding, to keep the chances of Chikungunya infecting at the minimum.

The marriage venue has now been relocated to Bangalore.
