29.45 lakh MT wheat arrives in Haryana mandis
Chandigarh, May 10 (UNI) An estimated 29.45 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has arrived in the mandis of the state so far.
Out of this, the six government procuring agncies have procured 22.25 lakh metric tonnes of wheat during this season.
This was disclosed by Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan here today while enumerating the details of procurement made by various procuring agencies.
He said that HAFED had procured 8.40 lakh metric tonnes of wheat, while Food and Supplies Department had procured 4.93 lakh metric tonnes, Food Corporation of India 2.68 lakh metric tonnes, Haryana Agro Industries Corporation 2.38 lakh metric tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 2.16 lakh metric tonnes and CONFED 1.68 lakh metric tonnes.
He said that the government was paying Rs 650 per quintal besides Rs 50 per quintal bonus to the farmers. He said that Kaithal district was still ahead in the state in the arrival of wheat with 4.77 lakh metric tonnes of wheat followed by Karnal 4.63 lakh metric tonnes, Fatehabad 3.73 lakh metric tonnes, Kurukshetra 3.47 lakh metric tonnes, Jind 3.59 lakh metric tonnes, Sirsa 3.49 lakh metric tonnes, Panipat 1.40 lakh metric tonnes and Ambala 1.14 lakh metric tonnes.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the payment to the farmers was being made within 48 to 72 hours of their selling the produce.
