Uttaranchal Congressmen hopeful on Rae Bareli election

Dehradun, May 9 (UNI) Low turnout in the by-election in Rae Bareily is not a negative sign for UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi not winning the election, Uttaranchal Congress spokesperson Surendra Kumar Aggarwal said here today.

Despite 42.6 per cent voting he is hopeful of Ms Gandhi's victory. ''Soniaji will emerge a winner with large margin,'' he said while addressing a press conference.

On the other hand, he criticised Bharatiya Janata Party whose State President and former Chief Minister Bhagat Singh Koshyari in a bid to woo voters in the forthcoming assembly election had stated that BJP would take up the fight on BSP (bijli, sadak, pani) agendas. He said ''thankfully after a long time it(BJP) has realised the basic problems of the mass.'' ''But, they should reveal to the janta how they would do it,'' Mr Aggarwal said adding the prevailing price inflation was all due to the BJP's wrong policies. He alleged it had fallen flat in all fronts during their tenure as they have not a single credit of initiating any big development projects in the state. ''And their recent Bharat Suraksha Yatra taken out by their prominent leaders have only maligned their images and revealed their true weaker self,'' he said.
