US currency worth $ one million seized from a vehicle in Assam

Guwahati, May 9 (UNI) Police recovered US currency worth $ one million from a vehicle and arrested three persons in this connection at Sivasagar town in Upper Asom on Sunday last, according to delayed report reaching here today.

Police in Sivasagar said acting on a tip-off, a police team intercepted a Maruti Zen vehicle in the heart of the Upper Asom oil town and recovered the huge quantity of US currency kept inside a bag from the vehicle. Three persons travelling in the car were arrested. Further investigation was on.

Maenwhile, the police have got in touch with 'appropriate' authority to check the veracity of the seized US currency notes.

Police said the arrested persons during the interrogation said they had collected the foreign currency from Guwahati which is being cross checked.
