US currency worth one million dollar seized from a vehicle in Assam

Guwahati, May 9 (UNI) Police recovered US currency worth one million dollar from a vehicle and arrested three people at Sivasagar town in Upper Asom on Sunday according to a report reaching here today.

Police in Sivasagar said acting on a tip-off, a police team intercepted a vehicle in the heart of the Upper Asom oil town and recovered the US currency kept inside a bag in the vehicle.

Three people travelling in the car were arrested. Further investigation was on.

Meanwhile, the police have got in touch with 'appropriate' authority to check the veracity of the seized US currency notes.

Police said the arrested persons during the interrogation told they had collected the foreign currency from Guwahati. This is being cross checked.
