TS installs country's first automated iron ore fine jigging plant
Mumbai, May 9 (UNI) The first automated jigging plant for iron ore fines in the country was inaugurated by Tata Steel's Managing Director B Muthuraman, at the company's Noamundi iron mine located in west Singhbhum district of Jharkhand.
Installed at a cost of around Rs 25 crore, the capacity of the plant facility is about 300 tonnes per hour or 1.6 MTPA throughputs, a release issued here today said.
The plant has been completed in two years, the release added.
The installation of the jigging plant is one of the steps taken by Tata Steel to effectively use iron ore fines, thereby conserving prime natural resources as well as reducing coke consumption and increasing the productivity of blast furnaces, the release said.
