New Delhi, May 09 (UNI) Union Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz today expressed anguish over the delay in Srinagar airport upgradation.

In his letter addressed to Civil Aviation Minister Praul Patel, Mr Soz said that the upgradation of the airport was a must in view of increasing flow of traffic to Kashmir and to provide better passenger amenities to the travelling public.

He said during his recent visit to Srinagar he found that the work on airport expansion was sluggish and the construction of the new terminal with four aero bridges, four escalators alongside the expansion of apron and construction of cargo building have to be expedited and completed by November 2005.

The delay has caused added burden on prices besides giving a bad impression on the public visiting the Valley. The long queues could be avoided by providing additional x-ray machines for speedy checks and clearances.
