SC grants 3 weeks for relocation of JJ colonies
New Delhi, May 9: The Supreme Court today granted three weeks time to the slum dwellers of Nagla Machi Jhuggi Jhopri clusters on the Ring Road near Pragati Maidan here to move from there.
A bench, comprising Justice Ruma Pal and Justice Markandey Katju, issued the directive, while disposing of the appeals filed by ten residents of the slum against the Delhi High Court order directing their removal latest by May 8.
The bench directed the authorities to relocate the slum dwellers whenever alternative land is available.
Notably, the SC had stayed the removal last month till today.
