New Delhi, May 9 (UNI) The Supreme Court today adjourned the hearing of a petition filed by Sankaracharya of Kanchi Mutt Jayendra Saraswati seeking transfer of the Radhakrishnan attempt to murder case outside Tamil Nadu as the presiding judge of the bench Justice B N Srikrishna withdrew citing personal reasons.

The case will now be heard by another bench as Justice Srikrishna is due to retire during summer vacations. Another judge on the bench was Justice Tarun Chhatterjee.

The Sankaracharya is the main accused in both the Sankaraman murder case and the Radhakrishnan attempt to muder case.

The proceedings in the Sankaraman murder case have been already stayed by the apex court on an application by Jayendra Saraswati seeking change of the public prosecutor. The trial of the Sankaraman murder case has alredy been transferred to Pondicherry.

The petition is seeking the transfer of the Radhakrishnan attempt to murder case outside Tamil Nadu on the grounds that state Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa is taking personal interest in the case and the local administration is biased against him, and thus free and fair trial in the case is not possible in the state .

Attempt on the life of Radhakrishnan, who himself is one of the conspirators in the Sankaraman murder case, was made when he threatened to expose the role of Jayendra Saraswati in the murder of the former manager of the Mutt.
