Police register criminal case agaist Ramadoos and Anbumani

Tindivanam, May 9 (UNI) Police have registered a criminal case against Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder leader Dr S Ramadoss and his son and Union Health Minister Anubamani Ramadoss, among others, in connection with the murder of the aide of Tamil Nadu Minister C Ve Shanmugam here last night.

In an incident of post-poll violence, a 15-member armed gang, after making a vain bid on the life of Mr Shanmugam at his residence here lastnight, hacked to death his aide Muruganandam, while inflicting cut injuries to two others.

On a complaint lodged by Mr Shanmugam with the Roshnai Police station limit, Police registered the case and cited Dr Ramadoss as first accused and Dr Anbumani Ramadoss as A2.

Others who were arraigned in the case are Parasuraman, son in law of Dr Ramadoss (A3), Srinivasan (A4), Karunanidhi (A5), PMK nominee pitted against Mr Shanmugam in Tindivanam assembly constituency, Raghu (A6) and Pradeepan (A7), grandson of Dr Ramadoss, police said.

All the seven accused were charged under sections 147, 148, 323, 324, 307, 506 (II) and 120 (b) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). No one was arrested so far by the police.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police Jangid and Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Sanjay Arora visited Mr Shanmugam at his residence. Security has been beefed up at the Minister's house.

A large number of partymen were making a beeline to Mr Shanmugam's residence to express their solidarity.

Tension prevailed in the town and a heavy police bandobus has been posted at all sensitive places. Tight security has also been posted at Dr Ramadoss's residence.

The Police case was that that at the instigation of A1 to A4, a 15-member armed gang, led by other accused, went to the Minister's residence last night and resorted to the indiscriminate attack.

While Mr Shanmugam escaped to safety, Muruganandam, who had recently joined the AIADMK after quitting Congress, was killed on the spot. Two others who were injured, were admitted to Pondicherry Government hospital.
