Napal govt annuls controversial ordinances of royal regime

Kathmandu, May 9 (UNI) The Nepal government today annulled some of the controversial ordinances including the media ordinance promulgated by King Gyanendra during his absolute rule.

The annuled ordinances included the ordinance to amend some laws related to media, general administration and NGO Code of Conduct, minister for land reform Prabhu Narayan Chaudhary told reporters after the cabinet meeting held at Prime Minister Girrija Prasad Koirala's residence this evening.

There were severe restrictions on media promulgated during the autocratic regime which was protested from national and international media organisations.
