MSP for jute raised by Rs 90 a quintal: Cabinet
New Delhi, May 9 (UNI) The government today raised the minimum support price (MSP) for jute by Rs 90 a quintal to Rs 1,000.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on the recommendations of the CACP, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters.
The price is for TD-5 grade. The Jute Corporation of India will continue to be the nodal agency of the Central Government to undertake price support operations and the losses incurred, if any, in the MSP operations will be fully reimbursed by the Centre.
