LeT militant shot dead in South Delhi
New Delhi, May 8: Pakistan based Lashker-e-Toiba militant Abu Hamza was shot dead in a police encounter near the Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium in South Delhi this evening.
Two other associates were also nabbed from the Nizamuddin police station at 1900 hrs, according to a senior police official.
''Four kg RDX, four detonators and fifty thousand rupees in cash were recovered from the two. They were coming from Mumbai on Golden temple Express,'' he added.
Abu Hamza, one of the most wanted LeT militant, was shot dead after an encounter with the special cell sleuths near JLN stadium at about 2130 hrs, the oficial added.
Police had laid a trap after interrogating the two associates who told the police that they were to deliver the consignment to Hamza at JLN stadium.
The encounter took place when the police challenged Hamza soon after he arrived on the spot in a white car. He resorted to firing as soon as he was challenged by the waiting team.
