HC orders Air Tel to file affidavit over businessman's phone tapping
New Delhi, May 9 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today ordered cellular service provider Air Tel's Assistant Manager (Legal) Seema Jindal to file an affidavit about the circumstances that led her to intercept phone calls of a businessman.
Justice R C Jain posted the the next date of hearing the case to May 26.
S K Sharma, arguing for petitioner Yashpal Ahuja, submitted before the court that Mr Ahuja had written a letter to Air Tel asking for causes for interception of his calls in September last year.
He also submitted before the court that Jindal had replied saying his phone was tapped after Delhi Polices issued instructions.
''When the petitioner specifically asked for names of authority obliging the company to intercept the calls, the Air Tel official feigned ignorance,'' the counsel added.
Sandeep Sethi, senior counsel, appeared for Air Tel while Mukta Gupta appeared for Delhi Police.
