Gothra Sabha plea to officials on 'pattayams'
Kannur, Kerala, May 9 (UNI) Adivasi Gothra Mahasabha General Secretary M Geethanandan today urged the district authorities to take immediate steps for distribution of "pattayams" to Adivasi families at Aralam Farm in the district.
Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Geethanandan alleged the district authorities were not taking steps to issue "pattayams," though they had agreed to issue them to nearly 3,500 Adivasi familes in the second phase before March 31.
In the first phase, "pattayams" were given to to 840 families, he added.
Though the officials had asked the Adivasi families, numbering 2,000, to vacate the land occupied by them before May first, they did not follow the order, Mr Geethanandan said and urged the offiials to issue "pattayams" at the earliest to the genuine families after holding an enquiry.
The Adivasi leader said they would conduct a People's Convention tomorrow to discuss the issue and chalk out the future course of action.
