Court fixes next date of hearing in gas tragedy case
Bhopal, May 9 (UNI) A local court today recorded statement of the accused in a criminal case relating to the 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Anil Kumar Gupta today recorded the statement of the then UCIL works manager J Mukund. However, the court could not record the then UCIL vice-president Kishore Kamdar's statement completely.
The statement of the then UCIL Managing Director Vijay Gokhale was recorded yesterday.
The CJM fixed the next dates of hearing for June 8 and 9.
Earlier, an application for not appearing for a hearing was submitted before the court on behalf of the then UCIL chairman Keshub Mahindra, Production Manager S P Chaudhary, Production Supervisor K V Shetty and Shift Supervisor Shakeel Qureshi.
Thousands of people had died and thousands more were affected due to poisonous gas leak from the Union Carbide plant here on the night of December 3-4, 1984.
