Bill to change definition of 'fashion' in Budget session

New Delhi, May 9 (UNI) The government today decided to introduce amendments in the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Bill 2005 to change the definition of 'fashion' and bring Member of Parliament on the NIFT Board of Governors.

The Union Cabinet presided over by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh gave its approval to introduce the amendments, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters.

The ammendments had been recommended by the Standing Committee of Parliament.

The government has decided to accept the recommendations of the Standing Committee with ''certain modifications'', said Mr Dasmunsi.

One of the amendments is to ''improve the definition of 'fashion' contained in the Bill,'' he added.
