At least 12 children killed in Nepal road crash
Kathmandu, May 9: At least 12 children were killed in Nepal today when a bus carrying 23 students to school plunged into an irrigation canal, police said.
The accident took place in Sunsari, about 500 km east of the capital, Kathmandu.
''Twelve bodies have been recovered from the canal,'' a police officer told Reuters. He said nine children had been taken to nearby hospitals, while rescuers were looking for the other two.
The cause of the accident was not known.
