Assn to launch indefinite transport bandh from May 15
Hyderabad, May 9 (UNI) The Twin Cities Local Lorry Operators Association today announced that it would launch an indefinite transport bandh from May 15, the deadline set by the Andhra Pradesh government not to ply lorries and other public transport vehicles more than 15 years old in the state capital.
Association president Mohd Amanulla Khan, in a statement here said the decision of the government would put the transport operators to untold sufferings.
Stating that the condition of a vehicle was dependent on the way it was maintained, he said it was wrong to say that old vehicles caused more pollution.
Following a High Court directive, the state government had prohibited public transport vehicles which were more than 15 years old from entering the city from May 15.
