Chennai, May 9: With all exit polls uniformly predicting a landslide win for the DMK-led DPA, the actual results of votes polled in yesterday's Assembly elections are being awaited with all arrangements readied for counting in Tamil Nadu on May 11.

The counting would be held at 82 centres in 60 towns at 0800 hrs on May 11 for the 234 Assembly seats, which went to polls.

The postal ballots would be counted first followed by the votes polled by the electorate through EVMs, official sources said.

The electoral fortunes of 2586 candidates, including AIADMK Supremo and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, her Cabinet colleagues, DMK President M Karunanidhi, his son M K Stalin, senior DMK leaders K Anbazhagan, Arcot N Veerasamy, Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam President, actor-politician Vijayakanth and forest brigand Veerappan's widow Muthulakshmi, were sealed in the ballot boxes.

After polling yesterday, officials sealed EVMs in giant trunk boxes and transported them to counting centres amid tight security.

The trends would be made available within a couple of hours of counting beginning and first results were expected by 1100 hrs. The results of all 234 seats would be known by afternoon, sources said.

Meanwhile, police made elaborate security arrangements at the four counting centres in the city - Queen Mary's College, Presidency College, Loyola College and Anna University - and also in various parts of Tamil Nadu.

Official sources said round-the-clock fool-proof security arrangements were made at all 82 counting centres. Three-tier security cover was provided by paramilitary forces and local police in counting centres.
