AIR embodiment of national integration: Janardhan Reddy

Visakhapatnam, May 9 (UNI) All India Radio (AIR) is the most eloquent embodiment of national integration, bringing all parts of India together and promoting national integration and national pride, N Janardhana Reddy, former Chief Minister and MP, said here today.

Inaugurating a 102 MHz FM rainbow channel, covering 60 km distance, N Janardhana Reddy said AIR programmes were the backbone of the agricultural economy.

He emphasised the need to start programmes to encourage artistes.

Prasar Bharthi CEO K S Sharma said in his keynote address, AIR was progressing despite financial hurdles. Response to DTH was excellent as 10 million set-top boxes had been sold in the last two years.

Prasar Bharthi was not working with a commercial motto but only to satisfy the public with programmes that were acceptable, he added.
