Women top Civil Services exam

New Delhi, May 08 (UNI) Mona Pruthi of Faridabad emerged topper while Gurneet Tej of Chandigarh came second in the Civil Services (Main) Exams held in October-November 2005, results for which were announced by the Union Public Service Commission today.

Others in the top 10 were: Randhir Kumar, J Ganeshan, Zuhair Bin Saghir, Pradeep Kumar Jha, Archana Nair, Abhishek Prakash, S Raghuram and Gaurav Goyal.

In all, a total of 425 candidates were selected for appointment to the IAS, the IFS, the IPS and Central Services Group A and B.

The selected candidates comprised 210 General (including six physically challenged candidates), 117 Other Backward Classes (including three physically challenged candidates), 57 Scheduled Castes (including two physically challenged candidates) and 41 Scheduled Tribes (including one Physically Challenged candidate).

The number of vacancies reported by the Government for IAS is 87, for IFS is 20, for IPS is 103, for the Central Services Group A is 221 and for Central Services Group B is 26, an official release stated.

The result were made available on the UPSC website upsc.gov.in.

However, marks on the website would be available after 15 days from the date of declaration of results, the release added.
