Vadodara remains incident free, Curfew relaxed
Vadodara, May 8: Normal life was restored in the riot-hit Vadodara with the curfew-bound walled city area recording no incident during the last 24 hours.
Being encouraged by the fast improving law and order situation, the authorities today relaxed curfew for 9 hours from 0800 hrs to 1700 hrs simultaneously in all six curfew-bound areas of Panigate, City, Karelibaug, Wadi, Raopura and Navapura.
The authorities are likely to take a decision regarding complete pulling out of Army this evening. Army was deployed on May 3, after demolition of a dargah at Champaner Gate in the sensitive Fatehpura area by the VMC led to widespread violence, in which six people were killed and over 60 others injured.
Police yesterday arrested five persons, including a son of an ASI, after a patrolling team recovered some sharp-edged weapons and hockey sticks from a Tata Sumo they were travelling in.
Interrogation of the accused was on.
