Tata Steel installs Country's First Automated Iron Ore Fine at Noamu
Kolkata, May 8 (UNI) Tata Steel, Managing Director, B Muthuraman, today inaugurated a 300 tonnes per hour MTPA Jigging&Hydro-cyclone Plant at Noamundi Iron Mine of Tata Steel situated in West Singhbhum district in Jharkhand.
This is the first automated Jigging Plant for Iron Ore fines in the country.
Installed at a cost of about Rs 25 crore, the construction of the plant started by Dr T Mukherjee, DMD (Steel) on 11th February, 2004 got completed in about two years.
The installation of the Jiggling Plant is one of the steps taken by Tata Steel to effectively use iron ore fines, thereby conserving prime natural resources as well as reducing Coke consumption and increasing the productivity of blast furnaces. The plant has been installed with the help of HWI with imported component in collaboration from KHD, Germany.
The Hydro-cyclone Plant installed will help in recovering iron values from the slime being discharged from washing plant and reduce alumina level. This plant has been supplied by TRF limited, which has also supplied the conveyor system.
On this occasion Mr Muthuraman appreciated the effort of the project team and all the partners involved in construction of the plant. The inauguration of this plant was also attended by Mr A D Baijal, VP (Raw Materials); Mr Avinash Prasad, VP (Industrial Relations), Mr Hridayeshwar Jha, GM (QMQ), Mr G T Reddy, General Secretary, Noamundi Mazdoor Union and other dignitaries UNI XC SB RS2348
