Suspended police officer moves for bail in murder case

Mumbai, May 8 (UNI) Suspended assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Bhagwan Pakhre today filed a bail application in connection with the murder of a woman in Parel here in December 2005.

The bail application will be heard by additional sessions judge N P Dalvi on May 12.

While moving the bail application, Pakhre said the FIR is silent on his direct nexus in the incident. None of the witnesses had identified him during the first identification parade nor does the prosecution case suggest he is guilty.

Pakhre was arrested on December 30 last year in connection with the murder of Archana Gaikwad with whom he allegedly had an illicit relationship.

The body of the woman was recovered on December 30 from under the Senapati Bapat overbridge in Parel after being alerted by a passerby.

Fifty four-year-old Pakhre was booked for murder and for destruction of evidence in the murder of the 40-year-old woman who had been seperated from her husband.
