Power situation improves, expected to normalise by mid May
New Delhi, May 8 (UNI) Even as plummeting mercury improved the weather in the national capital, the power situation too seems to be improving.
The Delhi Transco now has to resort to 20 MW of loadshedding as against a peak demand of 3368 MW.
Overall, there was 281 MW of loadshedding today.
The slight shortage in meeting the demand was due to the frequency problems being experienced by the Northern Grid.
Low frequency of power in the Northern Grid due to overdrawing from the network by the other states in the region has, in the past few days, forced the Delhi Transco to take recourse to loadshedding to keep the grid under control.
Nevertheless, Delhi Transco sources feel that with some Central power plants like those at Dadri, Sanghrauli and Indraprastha expected to be back into operation soon, power generation of the Grid might improve.
Infact, the Transco sources expect the power situation in Delhi to completely normalise by the middle of May by which time many of power plants are expected to eb back in operation.
