PDP-Congress is value-based and pragmatic: Mehbooba

Srinagar, May 8 (UNI) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Mehbooba Mufti today said her party's alliance with the Congress was value- based and has national significance.

Addressing a day-long party convention at Pahalagam, she said the alliance was pragmatic and based on high values.

''The coalition is aimed at providing succour to the suffering masses, good and transparent governance besides balanced development of all the three regions of the state. The alliance is value-based and not only at the state level, but it has national significance,'' Ms Mufti added.

The PDP President said the Common Minimum Programme was the roadmap to lead the coalition government in the state.

On the recent by-elections, Ms Mufti said the people-friendly policy adopted by the PDP-led coalition government had been vindicated at the grassroot level.

The people have acknowledged the transparency and good governance which in turn has brought a visible change and improved the sense of security among them, she added.

Ms Mufti said the high voter turnout in the bypolls should be considered a great achievement in reviving the faith of the people in ballot which they had lost previously.

She asked the party workers to highlight the achievements of the party at the grassroot level so that the people were not misled by the vested interests.
