Panel to meet soon for a final decision on Telagana

New Delhi, May 8 (UNI) Union Rural Development Minister and member of the UPA Committee on Telengana Raghuvansh Prasad today said the committee would soon meet for taking a final decision on the issue of statehood for the region.

Emerging after meeting with Telangana Rashtriya Samiti (TRS) chief K Chandrashekhara Rao, Mr Prasad said the committee headed by Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee would be meeting in the next couple of days to take a final decision on the Telangana issue.

The committee was formed to find consensus among the UPA members and other political parties. Mr Prasad also urged the BJP to give their views in writing to the committee instead of paying 'lip service' to the cause of Telangana.

Deriding the statement of the BJP that they would support a Bill brought by the Congress and TRS, Mr Singh said many parties had expressed different views on Telangana issue. Those who have opposed creation of Telangana were Telgu Desam, CPI(M) and RSP, he added.
