Omar concerned over media trial of sex racket
Srinagar, May 8 (UNI) National Conference (NC) Chief Omar Abdullah today expressed serious concern over the ''media trial'' of the recently-surfaced sex racket and lashed out at Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig for ''trying to shirk the responsibilty when the prestige of the state is at stake''.
In a statement here, he demanded immediate investigations into the case so that those involved in the scandal were exposed and strict action taken against them.
''There should be a time-bound probe into the case. There should be no further delay into the investigations so that the people come to know about the real facts of the scam,'' Mr Abdullah added.
He expressed the hope that Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad would take ''immediate and concrete'' steps in this regard.
The NC President criticised Mr Baig's recent statement in which he sought the Chief Minister's intervention by getting the case investigated.
''It is very unfortunate. The Deputy Chief Minister should also realise his responsibilities. How can he shirk his responsibility at the time of need and particularly when the prestige of the state and its people is at stake,'' Mr Abdullah said.
He also expressed serious concern over the ''media trial'' of the sex racket.
