Patna, May 8 (UNI) Senior IPS officer Amitabh Kumar Das, facing charge of alleged sexual exploitation of a retired DIG's daughter on false assurance of marrying her, today knocked the door of the National Commission for Women, but for a different reason.

In a letter to the commission, Mr Das demanded a thorough probe into the alleged atrocities afflicted on women by the outlawed Ranveer Sena in Bihar.

He drew the attention of the commission towards Laxmanpur-Bathe carnage in which 27 women and children were massacred by the Ranveer Sena a few years ago. He said during his posting as Police Superintendent in extremist-affected districts, he had tried to check the Sena's activities and even urged the state women commission to inquire into the atrocities committed agaist women of the weaker section by the Ranveer Sena.

''But the state commission did not pay any heed to my request,'' he said in the letter.

Shabnam Sinha, daughter of the retired DIG, in a complaint lodged with the state commission, had alleged that Mr Das had sexually exploited her for eight years after assuring to marry her. The state commission had issued summons to Mr Das to appear personally before it and explain his position. But he failed to turn up before the commission and a fresh notice was issued to him.

Mr Das is presently commandant of Bihar Military Police in Jamui.
