Daniel Chopra slumps to 77 in final round, finishes tied 67

Charlotte, May 8 (UNI) Daniel Chopra could not arrest his dwindling form and a nightmarish final round of 77 saw the Indian-born Swede finish a poor tied 67 in the Wachovia Championship here.

The former Asian Tour regular began his campaign in the tournament with an even-par 72 and since then, he went from bad to worse carding 74 and 75 in the next two rounds and worst came in the final round.

Starting on his back nine, Chopra managed one birdie in each nine but four bogeys -- three in front nine -- and a triple bogey on the par-five seventh hole threw him put paid to his hopes of a better finish and he ended tied 67th at 10-over 298.

Meanwhile, in a repeat of his last year experience here, 35-year-old American Jim Furyk found himself in a two-way playoff battle with South Africa's Trevor Immelman but this time he ended on the right side of the showdown at the first extra hole.

Both the golfers had finished regulation play level on 12-under 276 at the Quail Hollow Club.

Furyk's five-foot putt took him to victory as Immelman bogeyed the hole after three-putting from 50 feet.
