Mumbai, May 8 (UNI) The Palghar district court today turned down the bail plea of Pastor Alexander George, who allegedly raped a 10-year-old girl at 'Wings of Refuge' orphanage in Nalasopara, with the help of orphanage incharge Anandi Joseph.

On April 13, a rape case was registered against George at the Nalasopara police station by the victim's tution teacher Kavita Bansode after the victim complained of bleeding while urination. The charge was denied by the accused.

Initially, the police took into custody Anandi Joseph, along with another associate Sunder Raj, who was released after a preliminary investigation.

After a week of hiding at several places in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, George finally surrendered before the Nalasopara police on April 18 accompanied by his lawyer Ashok Sutralya.

Senior Police Inspector Bhajirao Bhonsle of Nalasopara police station told UNI that any decisive change in police investigation would depend only on the outcome of the final medical report of the victim, which is expected next week.

Meanwhile, George and Joseph continue to be in police custody awaiting bail.
