BJP to support a Congress-TRS Bill for creation of Telangana

New Delhi, May 8 (UNI) In an bid to draw wedge within the UPA on the issue of Telangana, the BJP today said it would support any bill on the creation of Telangana state in Andhra Pradesh brought forward by the coalition Government participated by the Congress and Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS)parties.

BJP Parliamentary Party Spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra told newspersons after an hour and a half long meeting of the forum that the BJP would certainly support any bill that would be brought forward by the Congress and the TRS which promised to create a separate state of Telangana ahead of the last Assembly elections.

"We are for creation of Telangana and if they can't implement their own electoral promise it is upto TRS to decide its future", Mr Malhotra said.

He said under the similar circumstances the BJP had promised to create the states of Uttaranchal, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh in the past and all the three states were carved out during the NDA regime. The BJP expected the same to happen in the UPA government also because they have promised to create Telangana, he added.

The party which was insisting on the state assembly to pass an unanimous resolution on the issue seems to have given up its tough stance after BJP President Rajnath Singh took a different stand. Senior BJP leader L K Advani who initially took this rigid stand in the initial days of his Bharat Suraksha Yatra however did a U-turn when he said his party would support creation of Telangana if the Congress-TRS came out with such a Bill.
