Unity and peace of country at risk due to jehadis: Singhal
Dehradun, May 7 (UNI) VHP International Executive President Ashok Singhal today said the unity and peace of the country was at risk with Islamic countries supporting so-called jehadis and Russia and China supporting Maoists .
''As the young generation is inclining more towards western culture it has become essential to think for the protection of the identity of Hinduism,'' he told reporters here, adding in 80,000 places all over the world the VHP activists are regularly working on it.
''The election in Rae Bareli tomorrow will tell which party the Hindu voters have choosen between Bharatiya Janata Party and Uma Bharati's Bharatiya Janasakti Party'' he said.
Denying any political linkage of VHP with any party. Mr. Singhal said it is upto these two parties to gain support of Hindu voters.
Dodging the question on Nepal issue whether democracy should prevail ,he said by any means peace should prevail. ''I strongly protest killing of innocent people and Maoist activities should be totally uprooted from the region,'' he said ,adding ''development and prosperity comes through education not guns''.
Not supporting the concept of dimilitarisation of Siachin Glacier Mr. Singhal said it could not be termed a peace process rather it would harm the country which might have to lose some more areas if military is vacated from such strategic places. On Kashmir solution he said the country should make itself so powerful that no one dares to eye it.
