Police not just a law enforcer but a dynamic facilitator: LG

New Delhi, May 7 (UNI) Delhi's Lt Governor B L Joshi said that the role of the police was no longer confined merely to being a law enforcer but had enlarged to that of a ''dynamic facilitator.'' Inaugurating the Common integrated police application project in South West district on Friday evening, Mr Joshi said that the expectations from Delhi Police are increasing day by day and it is essential that it be a role model for the rest of the police organisations in the country to follow.

''As the capital city prepares itself for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, it is imperative that the Delhi police too gears up to ensure the security and safety of not only the citizens of the capital city but also of all the participants and visitors,'' he said.

The inauguration of the CIPA project in South West District signifies the successful implementation of the project in all the nine districts and 133 police stations of Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion, Delhi Police Commissioner K K Paul described the CIPA project as a step towards empowerment of all Delhiites. Now any person can approach any police station all over Delhi and obtain any information related to the status of investigation of his case, missing persons, unidentified dead bodies, stolen vehicles, medico-legal reports, verification of tenants and servants or any other relevant information. All such information would now be available at the click of a button.

Also present on the occasion were Vice chancellor of the JNU B B Bhattacharya, ex-cabinet Secretary Surinder Singh as well as MLAs Vijay Lochab, Puran Singh Yogi, Karan SIngh Tanwar and Ashok Ahuja.
