Parliamentarians pay tribites to Gurudev
New Delhi, May 7 (UNI) Defence Minister and Leader of the House in Lok Sabha Pranab Mukherjee today led the parliamentarians in paying floral tributes to Gurudev, the philospher-poet Ravinder Nath Tagore at the Central Hall of Parliament House on his 145th Birth anniversary.
Tagore, the first Indian winner of Nobel Prize for Literature for his book of poetery 'Geetanjli' was a celebrated dramistist, thinker.
Among others who paid floral tributes at the portrait of the Gurudev included Leader of the Oppostion in the Lok Sabha, L K Advani, Minsiter of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers and Parlimanetary Affiars B K Handique, Minsiter of State for Personnel, Public Grievances Suresh Pachouri and Secretary-General, Lok Sabha, PDT Achary.
In recognition of the services rendered by the Gurudev to the country, his portrait was unveiled in the Central hall of Parlimanet House on September 12, 1958 by the then President Dr Rajendera Prasad.
