Assembly to discuss office of profit issue
Imphal, May 7: The Manipur cabinet has decided to convene a special session of Manipur Legislative Assembly on May 26 to discuss the issue of office of profit.
The cabinet decision last night needs to be ratified by the Business Advisory Board (BAC), official sources said.
The Manipur government was also considering a formal recommendation to increase the number of ministers. The Ibobi ministry has 12 cabinet ministers.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh has said the state has many communities and all were not represented in the ministry.
The MLAs, who were dropped after the reduction of ministry size, were appointed as chairmen of various state owned public sectors.
However, they have been facing problems after the issue of office of profit came up.
The special Assembly session would discuss these issues, official sources said.
