Madhya Pradesh festival from May 24

New Delhi, May 7 (UNI) A four-day Madhya Pradesh Festival, showcasing the state's art, culture, films, music and cuisine, will begin here on May 24.

The Festival, titled ''From the very Heart of India'' and held in collaboration with the Indian International Centre, will present the different facets of the state's culture through seminars, poetry-reading, music sessions, film posters and photo exhibitions.

It will be a window to the rock paintings of Bhimbetka and the sculptures of Khajuraho of medieval times to the modern architectural wonders of Bharat Bhawan and the Vidhan Sabha in Bhopal, according to the Madhya Pradesh Information Centre here.

The contribution of Kalidas, Mukhtibodh, Hari Shankar Parsai in literature, Kumar Gandharva and Ali Akbar Khan in music and the trend setters in modern painting -- Hussain, Raza among others -- will also be on display.

The state's cuisine is also popular as Western MP is famous for its Malwai and Sailana cuisine whereas Bhopal has its own Bhopali cuisine.
