Lankan Govt would ensure peace with LTTE: Minister

Chennai, May 7: Sri Lankan Minister for Public Administration and Home Affairs Sarath Amunugama today hoped that they would be able to bring the LTTE to the negotiationing table with the help of on-going efforts of Norway and to resume peace talks between the Government and LTTE, either at Geneva or any other locations abroad shortly.

Talking to newspersons at airport here, Dr Amunugama, who was on his way to Colombo, after attending the ADB's meeting at Hyderabad said the Sri Lankan Government was making all out efforts to maintain peace in the island nation and attempting to sort out all issues through negotiations, He said the Government would ensure peace in the nation and there would be no room for violence under any circumstances. It is the duty of the Government to fulfill the expectations of peace-loving people, he added.

He said the problems confront not only Sri Lanka, but all over the world. The Government would slove the issues amicably, he added.

He said a cordial relationship exists between India and Sri Lanka and lauded Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister Mr P Chidambaram for extending all possible assistance to the nation.
