German midfielder Kehl in World Cup injury doubt
FRANKFURT, May 6 (Reuters) Sebastian Kehl's place in Germany's World Cup squad could be in doubt after the midfielder suffered an ankle injury today.
''It could be a ligament tear,'' Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc told reporters.
Kehl suffered the injury late in a 1-1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga and was due to have further tests tomorrow.
The 26-year-old made his comeback for Germany after a long absence in a 4-1 win over the United States in March.
Juergen Klinsmann names his World Cup squad on May 15. The hosts get the World Cup underway with a Group A match against Costa Rica in Munich on June 9.
