Congress govt. deceiving farmers, alleges TDP

Rajahmundry, May 7: East Godavari district Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader G Krishna today alleged that the Congress government was deceiving the farmers.

Talking to newspersons here he alleged that though the state government had spent five lakhs to organise the Rajahmundry division level farmers meet yesterday, nothing tangible had come out of it.

The meet was utilised as a political campaign with the official machinary in view of the ensuing panchayatelections, he alleged.

Though the farmers suffered great loss due to unsesonal rain which adversly affected their paddy crop, the Government did not come to their rescue and did not bother to get their grievances met, he alleged.

The meeting also did not come up with any concrete measures to problems the farmers are facing, he charged.

Mr Krishna alleged that when Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was in the opposition, he demanded 12 hours of uninterrupted power supply for farmers, had now failed to provide the same.
