Patna, May 7 (UNI) The Bihar Congress today accused the Nitish Kumar government of not implementing the centrally sponsored programmes in the state.

After visiting three blocks of Gaya district --Bodh Gaya, Manpur, Bela, state Congress president Sadanand Singh told newspesons here that the state government was not implementing National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (NREGP) in the state effectively, and cited examples to buttress his claim.

He said the Congress would launch mass awakening programme besides staging dharnas and holding demonstrations against the governemnt for its 'incapability' to implement the NREGP on the expected lines.

Mr Singh said he and Congress leaders Kripanath Pathak and Ajim Bari visited five Panchayats under the said blocks and on the spot assessment revealed ''very poor'' implementation of the NREGP.

He said the rainy season was round the corner and further work would not be possible but the Nitish Kumar government had yet to implement the programme in an effective manner.

He said a report on the state partys observations would be submitted to the Congress president Sonia Gandhi during the meeting of the district Congress presidents in New Delhi on May 26.

Mr Singh said the state party leaders would visit to other 23 districts of the state covered under the NREGP for finding out the scale of implementation of the said programme. He claimed that the Congress would continue to extend 'positive' cooperation to the Nitish Kumar government in respect of development and reconstruction of Bihar.
