Centre not worried about demolitions, sealing in Delhi: BJP

New Delhi, May 7 (UNI) Describing as "a unique example of appeasement" the Centre's move to obtain an order from the Supreme Court for not removing the illegal religious structures constructed upon the national highway in Vadodara, the Delhi BJP today criticised the Centre for not showing the same concern about the demolitions and sealings in Delhi.

''The way in which the Central Government has obtained Supreme Court's order for not removing the illegal religious structures constructed upon the national highway in Vadodara, presenting ''a unique case of appeasement,'' the same way it should have obtained orders from the Apex court for regularising shops, properties and additional constructions of the people of Delhi and provided them relief,''Delhi BJP chief Harshvardhan said in a statement issued here.

''The terrors of sealing and bulldozers is continuing for the last four months, rendering 50 lakh people unemployed. But the Congress Government is not worried about it. After a lapse of four months the Centre filed an ordinary petition requesting for six months moratorium on sealings and demolitions. Due to the failure to plead the case in a proper way, the court refused to grant time.

Even after that the Centre and Delhi Governments did not do anything to save the livelihood of people. On the contrary the sealing drive is being speeded up,''the statement said.'' Dr Harshvardhan said if the speed shown by the congress in appeasement had been shown in providing relief against demolitions and sealings to people of Delhi, then lakhs of people would not have been rendered unemployed.
