AMTU demands more seats for tribals

Imphal, May 7 : The All Manipur Tribal Union has demanded increase in the number of reserved seats for tribals in Manipur to 23 from 19 in the 60-member house.

AMTU president D P Panmei submitted a representation on the issue before the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes and demanded 38 per cent job reservation in Manipur.

The AMTU also appealed that funds meant for tribals should not be diverted to any other department.
