16 lakh bogus ration cards to be cancelled
Dharwad, May 7 (UNI) Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Minister Govind Karjol today said the State Government has initiated action to cancel 16 lakh bogus ration cards and promised that 1.20 crore ration cards would be distributed by September this year.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the process to provide ration cards to 64 lakh people living below the poverty line and 54 lakh other families had commenced.
Earlier, the Minister paid a surprise visit to a sweet mart-cum- hotel here and found that the weight measures were not renewed. He immediately ordered the officials to take action against the hotel.
